Director of Communications And Public Relations at MADFINGER, Rick Lagnese, talked about the game and what players can expect moving forward. One thing that was discussed was the core engine of the game and the gameplay loop itself.

In Gray Zone Warfare, players will have to enter a massive, open world and complete various tasks, fight other players and AI-controlled enemies, and get back to their base with the loot they got without losing their lives in the process, according to Insider Gaming.

This is where the game's extraction shooter elements come in as players will have to take control of a customizable PMC. You would have to gear up inside before boarding a helicopter and fly across the map to a designated landing zone, or LZ for short.

After you are back on the ground, you can do whatever you want without having to think about a time limit. Players can manage their health, inventory, hydration, and energy, which all are elements of a survival-based title.

After completing their tasks or if they are on the verge of dying and are desperate for a way out, players will have to go to another LZ, call in a helicopter, travel back to base, take advantage of vendors, an equipment stash, and many other mechanics.

One of the challenges that Gray Zone Warfare offers is that AI-powered enemies can be difficult to deal with as even a single bullet can be fatal. This means that players will have to be strategic in their approach and not just gungho everything in sight, said Forbes.

Generally Positive Feedback

However, despite the positive feedback for the playtest, many players complained about the starting village for some factions being nearly empty. This was seen with AI enemies' dead bodies strewn around as other people played at the same time.

Additionally, the game's developer has talked about potential plans to bring Gray Zone Warfare to Xbox consoles. It was said that the team is "starting on PC first" and then "will see" about what other platforms the game will be released on.

However, MADFINGER noted that the early access period of the game could take several years. Fortunately, this means that Xbox Game Preview could come into play as it becomes an option for those who have an Xbox.

The official description of the game notes that Gray Zone Warfare is an immersive tactical FPS with a heavy focus on realism. Players will be able to join a Private Military Company and navigate a massive open-world setting either alone or with a group of other players, according to PureXbox.
