There are also dangers that players will have to look out for, such as human invaders who will try to take over their metropolis. The conflicts in The Whims of the Gods play out similarly to an autobattler with special attacks and abilities that can be triggered in real-time.

Despite the players' best efforts, their young civilization is still running out of time and they must satisfy the whims of the gods. They can trade with the gods in order to buy more time and delay the cataclysm.
The game's unique cooperative feature is an online co-op mode that was designed for two players.
The game allows you to build an ancient city together with a friend. A system of key decisions will also let players determine their own roles in the city's development and how they will develop it technologically, according to Steam.
