Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Officially Releases 'An Ideal World' Trailer

Atlus just released the "An Ideal World" trailer for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, showcasing more gameplay footage of the highly anticipated re-release.

The original game, which was released in 2021, received a solid response from many fans and critics. The video game publisher is hoping that with Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, it will be able to take the critically acclaimed RPG to new heights.

The new version not only makes the leap to additional platforms, but it also features new locations, new demons, various quality-of-life improvements, and a brand new storyline. Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance takes players on two completely separate paths that each last around 80 hours and have different endings.

The Canon of Creation is the same storyline from the original release while the Canon of Vengeance is the new addition. The latter will have you meet a new character named Yoko Hiromine. She is a mysterious girl who has the power to fight against demons, according to GameInformer.

A hands-on demo that consisted of two hours of gameplay showcased some in-game footage of the upcoming title. The first hour took place inside the school area and Bethel Japan and tasked players with searching for Ichiro in the Diet Building.

After you find him and meet Yoko, the party then touches the terminal in order to return to Tokyo. The player is then greeted by Archangel Abdiel, who seems unhappy with Aogami and the protagonist's progress.

But before anything happens, the Saint of Bethel's Japanese branch, Tao, steps in to rescue the party. When the next day starts, Yoko Hiromine is introduced in school as a transfer student for the protagonist's class.

Yoko is fully aware of the apocalyptic timeline throughout the game and also wields supernatural powers. While her lore has been inserted in some dialogues that make it flow smoothly with the original release, she also gets some dedicated moments to make her character stand out, said GameSpot.

New Characters and Features

She is one of the catalysts for the Canon of Vengeance route along with the villainous Qadistu trio. The latter are a group of demons who represent a much more deranged side of the concept of revenge.

The first part of the demo included one of the Qadistu, Naamah, as a fightable enemy, as he is one of several new bosses. With how this particular character's design has turned out, those who played the demo are looking forward to others' releases.

There were also others who played the demo who were asking Atlus to make it possible for fans who bought the previous game to have the option of paying a bit more to upgrade to Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, which they considered to be a form of Definitive Edition.

Definitive Editions that work similarly to Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance made sense in the pre-online era. This was because it was impossible to deliver DLC or patches to a wide audience if they wanted to do a major overhaul such as Persona 3 FES on the PlayStation 2.

But in recent times, these sorts of updates come through digital means for half the price and even the Persona 3 Reload remake is getting FES' playable epilogue as DLC. This is instead of being a new, full-priced package, according to Kotaku.
