Zynga and Lucasfilm Games just released a new trailer for Star Wars: Hunters, a team-based battle arena shooter inspired by the popular series.

Star Wars: Hunters also introduces new elements to the series' storytelling with its brand of arena combat, which is a form of entertainment in the game. Combatants, also known as "Hunters," play their own characters from the franchise.

This all combines to form a ridiculously fun take on Star Wars archetypes that has not been seen in other titles. Star Wars: Hunters is looking like the type of game that many fans have been waiting for to come out.

The new cinematic trailer also comes as pre-registration for the game has now been opened. Zynga art director Dominic Estephane also talked about the game's inspired character designs, the large influence of pro wrestling on the title, and the newly revealed announcing duo, according to StarWars.com.

He said that one of their pillars was playful reverence, which means that they respected the franchise's universe and lore. However, they also added a layer of light-heartedness to the character designs found within the game.

When asked about any one character that could be considered his favorite, Estephane answered with Utooni. This is the two Jawas that are stacked on top of each other and the team also knew that it was a crazy idea.

The developer noted that each Hunter in the game boasts their own unique set of abilities that will help them in battle in the Arena. The game features a number of game modes for players to enjoy, such as Squad Brawl and Trophy Chase.

The former is where opposing teams will battle to rack up the most number of eliminations of players on the enemy team. On the other hand, the latter is where competing teams will fight for control of the elusive droid TR-F33, said GameInformer.

A Fun and Entertaining Shooter

Zynga vice president Sam Cooper wrote in a press release that they are excited to welcome fans from all over the world to Vespaara. He noted that there are a lot of fun twists and winks that fans will recognize, including beloved Star Wars settings, creatures, and themes.

When it launches, Star Wars: Hunters will have 13 playable characters; Sprocket, Utooni, Zaina, Grozz, Skora, J-3DI, Aran Tal, Reive, Sentinel, Diago, Imara Vex, Slingshot, and Charr. Many of these characters may sound ridiculous for fans of the series, but that's exactly the point of the game.

Estephane noted that each character in the game has larger-than-life personalities, similar to pro wrestling. He cited Grozz as an example, who is a Wookie Juggernaut, who is both a heavyweight and a showman but is also a former Huttball pro.

Alongside the reveal of the release date, the latest content drop also showcased the two hosts, one of which is Boz Vega. She is a former hunter who has the Hall of Fame rings to prove it, according to IGN.
