Echoes of the Plum Grove brings to life what the developers are saying is a "cozy game with consequences" that puts a new twist to titles such as Stardew Valley.

The game was made by a two-person development team and will feature the world of Honeywood filled with death and taxes. Echoes of the Plum Grove has all the makings of farming simulator titles.

Players will become the owners of a small house located on an overgrown plot of land that will be used to plant seasonal crops or raise livestock. Furthermore, you will be able to set out on quests and you could even find love with one of the villagers.

However, on top of that, the game has a relatively demanding survival system where food items perish after a few days. Tools also degrade and break and hunger is a major problem for any player.

Compared to other farming simulators, the winter season in Echoes of the Plum Grove is a much greater threat. Players will have to prepare enough food to eat, which forces them to butcher cows and dry meat to prevent it from spoiling, according to PCGamer.

Other than the ever-approaching threat of starvation, players will have to contend with the spread of disease throughout their villages. All of this comes as players will also face weekly tax payments.

While death is always on the horizon, it is not the end as you can still play as your own children to carry on your legacy. But for those who do not want to contend with all of these harsh features, there is an option to turn off many of them individually through the menu.

Graphically, Echoes of the Plum Grove features paper cutout visuals that look similar to the Paper Mario franchise. The game is set in 1700s Massachusetts, which makes for an awkward historical playground despite having cheerful cartoon cutout visuals.

Every single interaction within the game results in playful humor, camaraderie, and sometimes even a little mischief. Players will be able to attend a variety of festivals or banter with neighbors while also meddling with everything to change the town's dynamics, said COGConnected.

The game starts off with players creating their own characters and after, they are riding on a ship traveling to the New World. However, in the middle of your journey, you are interrupted by a sea storm and wake up in the home of one of the residents of Honeywood.

You later find out that you are the only survivor from the shipwreck and the game then lets you explore, forage, farm, meet new friends, and build a new life. Echoes of the Plum Grove also gives players an inventory that is relatively larger than other farming simulators.

The map of the village also has several signposts that serve as waypoints for players to fast travel. Additionally, when you finish a quest and need to turn it in, the map will show you the location of the person who gave you the task, according to LadiesGamers.
