Killer Instinct News: Fulgore Trailer is Here, But Character's Release Pushed to April 9, DiveKick Developer Iron Galaxy Takes Over for Double Helix [VIDEO]

Fulgore Now Set to Hit Killer Instinct April 9, and Iron Galaxy Takes Over for Double Helix

You may remember in early February, Amazon purchased Double Helix as part of its "ongoing commitment to build innovative games for customers." Upon the announcement of Amazon's acquirement, Microsoft reported they would be working with "a new development partner" for the Xbox One exclusive Killer Instinct going forward, and they've just identified 'em.

After working on fighters Darkstalkers Resurrection and Marvel Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, Iron Galaxy Studios is now the name in Killer Instinct. "This is an amazing opportunity to work on a game and a genre we are super passionate about," said studio president Dave Lang to Polygon. But before they take over development completely, Double Helix still has one more job left to do and finish up the game's first season, the final leg of which is a title update including the game's last character to join the roster.

Unfortunately, the studio will be missing the cutoff for the end of March with Fulgore and the rest of the update's content now slated to arrive April 9.

Over on Twitter, Microsoft Creative Director Adam Isgreen teased that Season 2 could see the addition of a few newcomers. Killer Instinct is still three characters short of the original game's roster, with Riptor, Cinder, and T.J. Combo still unseen.

The delay is unfortunate, but on the plus side, at least there's now a trailer out for Fulgore. Make sure you check it out below.
