Xbox One VS PS4: The Big Bang Theory...Theory

Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and The Big Bang Theory's Indecision Amalgamation

Who said three's a crowd? Both "South Park" and Ron Burgundy have both weighed in on the console war, and now it seems that "The Big Bang Theory's" joining into the fray will make for the charm. As fans of the show are well and familiar with, Jim Parson's Sheldon Cooper, the seemingly Aspergers afflicted sitcom scarecrow, seldom has a problem making up his mind thanks to a combination of stubbornness and rigid logic. But that all changes later tonight, Wednesday, April 3, when the good doctor will have to choose between Sony's PlayStation 4 or Microsoft's Xbox One.

It's a situation most of us will be familiar with, especially with only a few weeks between the consoles' respective launches. However, the episode comes a few months too late as most gamers have already made up their minds, evident by some recent sales numbers. Still, there should be at least a worthy canned laughter moment here and there.

Check out the trailer below for a sneak peek:

Under the hood, the PlayStation 4 boasts Supercharged PC architecture, X86 CPU, Enhanced PC GPU, and 8GB Unified Memory according to the official specs.

It supports the same PlayStation Plus service as the Vita and PlayStation 3. However, a Plus subscription is required for online multiplayer games, but not for additional media services like Netflix. Sony has also updated the Dual Shock controllers with a touch screen and improved shoulder triggers, and bundles the console with a headset.

In the opposite corner, Microsoft's Xbox One claims an 8-core x86 processor and Microsoft hopes it will take the place of the family room cable box by letting you watch Blu-ray movies and TV through the console, in a "seamless transition" that lets players switch from playing games to watching shows and/or movies. It will come fully loaded with 8GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive.

The console's exclusives include Dead Rising 3Killer InstinctRyse: Son of Rome, and more recently, Titanfall. You can check out a list of the install sizes for all of the launch games here.

You can see what console Cooper decides on tonight, on CBS, 8PM EST.
