Mystique, Gambit and Deadpool Movies Could Be On the Way From Fox [RUMORS]

Mystique, Gambit and Deadpool Could Be Getting Their Own Movies In the Future

X-Men: Days of Future Past isn't even out yet, and we're already hearing about what might be next for everyone's favorite mutant superteam.

Apparently inspired by Marvel Studios' Avengers solo movies performing so well, the team of producers behind the X-Men films are considering spin-offs for Gambit, Deadpool and Mystique. Entertainment Weekly got the scoop in an interview with X-Men producers Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinsberg.

"There was a regime [at the studio] that didn't see the worth in [spin-offs], and the current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we're going to do right by it," Donner told EW. "I'd like to do Gambit. I'd like to do Deadpool. We'll see. There's a lot of really great characters."

Donner also supported the idea of a Mystique movie, which Kinsberg strongly seconded.

"I love what Jen Lawrence has done with her, and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there's so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo," Kinsberg told EW.

Honestly, as much as I'm a fan of Jennifer Lawrence and the job she did portraying Mystique in X-Men: First Class, I'd be much more interested in a Deadpool or Gambit movie. Mystique would be one that I could probably wait for Netflix for, whereas Deadpool or Gambit would get me to a theater. Particularly if they had Ryan Reynolds portray his pre-mutilation Deadpool character from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which I thought he did very well.

Now, as far as trying to emulate the Avengers... well, they're doing it wrong. I think people are mostly interested in the X-Men as a team, save for the few standouts like Wolverine. Most of the X-Men movies have drawn their allure from having a star-studded cast of multiple heroes teamed up. Marvel Studios got you interested in the individual characters before they teamed up, not after. I think that's a critical difference in the two studios' strategies. Fox already has a new X-Men film planned for 2016 and another Wolverine movie for 2017, so any of these other movies would presumably come out in 2018 or later.

At any rate, which of the X-Men do you think deserve their own movies?
