'Age of Empires' F2P Mobile Game 'World Domination' Announced, Release Date Set for Summer [TRAILER]

Microsoft has announced that the latest Age of Empires game is coming to iOS, Android and Mobile Phones this summer. The free-to-play title will be called Age of Empires: World Domination and feature numerous famous factions from history. Microsoft released this trailer to show you how it looks, and it's certainly got the look down right- will fans of the series be able to get over the F2P style though?

The game will allow you to play as King Arthur of the Celts, Cnut the Great of the Vikings, Joan of Arc of the Franks, or Attila the Hun of the Huns. Famous historical battles will be recreated but the game will allow you to carve your own path.

Two Age of Empires Nintendo DS titles- The Age of Kings and Mythologies, managed to simplify the hardcore strategy format of the PC original while retaining what made it so great, so it's certainly possible to do it again, but gamers have (understandably) grown cautious of the F2P format. Does this mean World Domination will be full of timers and premium content? The best we can hope for is something like PopCap did with Plants Vs. Zombies 2, offering a massive amount of free content and a healthy store full of premium content that's only there for people really enjoying the game.

More on this title as we hear it- for now, check out the announcement trailer below.
