  • (Wargaming) A new British tank from the 1.1 Update.

Wargaming has announced this morning that Update 1.1 for World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition is now live in North America, Russia, and Europe. The free download is available when players log into their Xbox Live accounts. The update brings many updates to the game, the biggest being the new Crew System that completely changes how you choose who to play with, a brand new Himmelsdorf map, and five new British medium tanks.

The Crew System is a huge deal for the game. Now when you buy a tank you have to buy a tank crew to pilot it. You can choose from a number of crews with different abilities, and even send them to school to train for the upcoming battles, although of course they'll get more and more proficient on the battlefield. Once you've leveled up a crew to 100% mastery on a particular tank they'll be able to learn new skills that increase their power, and then they can level up that skill as well. It's a way to keep you in the game for longer- there's many more skills (25!) that you can now train and experiment with.

With this update also comes the new Himmelsdorf map, which features a cityscape unlike any of the maps in the Xbox 360 edition yet. Expect tight quarters and street warfare. To help you out with that there's five new British medium tanks to play with, which is certainly a boon for U.K. players- it's a little light on tanks.

Today from 3-4 p.m. PST game producer Jake Neri will host a live Q&A with fans on twitch.tv/Wargaming, he will show off footage from the new update, as well as give away "Battling Tanks" avatar codes and Gold for the Xbox 360 Edition.

All these constant updates certainly seem to be working for Wargaming, who is making more money per user with World of Tanks than Team Fortress 2, Guild Wars 2 or League of Legends. It's free-to-play done right- it's an absolute blast and completely optional to spend any money in the game. Put your time in and you can get almost anything. If you're excited about this 1.1 Update you can ceck out the new tutorial video below to see how the Crew System works in WoT.
