Mojang's Minecraft is an unstoppable juggernaut at this point but on some platforms it's still only available as a digital release. Case in point the most recent version, Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition. While this port has sold 1.5 million copies (!) via digital download some people just prefer a physical blu-ray disc, and they will soon get their wish.

Mojang's Owen Hill took to the Playstation blog to reveal that the game will be available as a retail disc starting on May 16. "That means you can go into a real-life store, buy it, and then take it home in a little bag," says the creator of one of the best-selling games of all time. "It comes with all the features you'd expect from the console versions of Minecraft, along with everything that came with update 14, including Emeralds, Ender Chests, potatoes, and more."

European gamers will find it on store shelves on May 14, also with all of the current title updates.

What about PS4 and Vita gamers? Are they being left out in the cold, alone and without Minecraft to provide them warmth? "In other PlayStation-related news, the team at 4J is working on bringing Minecraft to PS4 and PS Vita," says Hill. "Sorry for the delay, but making Minecraft happen is serious business."

He's now answering questions on the blog so head there with any questions. Hopefully they're not as bad as the ones at last year's convention. Hoo boy.
