Skylanders 4 Trap Team to be Revealed Today at Activision NYC Event?

It's going to be a big day for Skylanders fans today, especially those in the NYC area. Activision has proclaimed today 'Skylanders Day' and is holding a huge event at the Toys 'R' Us in Times Square, where they will be releasing the final figure in the Swap Force lineup, Doom Stone. They'll also be giving it away free to the first 500 customers when the event starts at 4:00PM. Afterwards they will be hosting an invite-only event (that we'll be covering) where they will reveal a new Skylanders title. The current rumor going around that this game will indeed be Skylanders 4, which might be titled Skylanders Trap Team.

As previously reported, Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure developer Toys for Bob is taking over development of the latest game. Vicarious Visions' Skylanders: Swap Force is roundly considered to be the best in the series and is out for next-gen platforms, so where can Toys for Bob take it from here? We shall find out tonight. 

As for the Times Square Toys 'R' Us event, it seems destined to be a madhouse as people inevitably try to lineup hours in advance to get free swag for their kids (the line starts at 12:30PM), but there do seem to be quite a bit of festivities going on.

"Fans attending the event will get the chance to meet Skylanders costumed characters, experience the bestselling kids' videogame franchise at in-store gaming kiosks and receive other fun Skylanders giveaways," says the press release. Atendees will be able to get $25 off the Skylanders: Swap Force starter pack, bringing the price down to $39.99, as well as buy one, get one 50% off deals for all Skylanders figures and accessories. This is only valid today at the Times Square Toys 'R' Us.
