Pokémon X and Y News: Battle Tournament 2014 Grand Final Winners Announced, Pokémon Hitting McDonalds Happy Meals

Pokémon Toys in Your Happy Meal in May, UK Pokémon Battle Tournament 2014 Grand Final Winners Announced

Good news for the virtual hoarders that are pokémon fans, and even better news for McDonalds. As soon as Ronald is done slinging plastic wall crawler toys to market "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," the big mac of fast food franchises is cracking open the poké ball and unleashing the infamous pocket monsters as the next happy meal toy.

If the picture above is any indication, the "battle launcher" toy line won't be anything special, consisting mostly of an image of a specific pokemon set against a uniquely colored, though flat poké ball. Each toy will come with one of 12 trading card game cards (don't get too excited TCG enthusiasts, they're all reprints - 11 from the Kalos Starter Set, and Pikachu from the XY expansion).

The toys consist of pokémon from the first and sixth generations, and include Weedle, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Pikachu, Inkay, Honedege, Snubbul, Swirlix, Bunnelby, Flethcling, and Furfrou. The toys should become a happy meal offering from May 23 to June 12, or until supplies last.

Across the pond, five Pokémon X and Pokémon Y Battle Tournament 2014 Grand Final competitors emerged with new ranks and titles, and are a step closer to the UK National Championships this May, where they'll earn a chance at competing in the Pokemon World Championships in Washington, D.C. this August:

* Daniel Burton of Abbey Close, Alcester was crowned Junior Expert, using Rotom and Nidoking at the finals in London to be crowned Pokémon Junior Expert.
* Winning the title of Pokémon Apprentice was Dominc Rice of Menzies Close, Southampton, emerging victorious from his rivals in the final heat by using his level 50 Goodra and Jolteon with the Thunder Bolt move.
* Francis and Joshua Jones of Lantern Way, West Drayton were crowned Pokémon Ultimate Team
* Oliver Reilly of Edge Hill, Wimbledon was crowned Ultimate Pokémon Expert with Tyranitar and Mawile.
