'Grand Theft Auto Online' News: Weekend Deals Include Double RP and In-Game Cash

Get Double GTA$ & Double RP Today and Tomorrow in GTA Online

As if you couldn't decide between playing Call of Duty: Ghosts or World of Tanks this weekend, here comes offers from Rockstar to make Grand Theft Auto Online an enticing choice. For today and tomorrow, GTA Online players stand to inflate their wallets and reputation points exceedingly high.

According to a recent post on the Rockstar Newswire, "Starting today and ending tomorrow night at midnight Eastern, all Jobs and activities in GTA Online will earn you twice as much GTA$ and RP." In case "all jobs and activities" wasn't specific enough, Rockstar saw fit to flesh out the term with a list:

- Races
- Deathmatch & Team Deathmatch
- Capture
- Last Team Standing
- Survival
- Missions
- Parachuting
- Gang Attacks
- Hold Ups
- Import Export
- Losing Wanted Level

The bonus is meant to help "Beef up your bank balance and boost your notoriety in Grand Theft Auto Online this weekend to prepare for the new apartments, lavish cars and amenities coming in the High Life Update coming this month."

Rockstar had previously offered details on GTA Online's forthcoming update. Exact details were slim, but among the new weapons is the Bullpup Rifle, and vehicles include the Dinka Thrust motorcycle, and three cars including the Super class Pegassi Zentorno, modeled after the Lamborghini Veneno.

Perhaps the most asked for GTA Online feature is finally on the way as well, namely, Heists, but it wasn't exclusively stated to be part of the High Life Update. Rockstar only described Heists thusly: "players can team up with their most trusted Crew members or with random other mercenaries in Grand Theft Auto Online to pull off cooperative Heist Missions for glory and profit. Stay tuned for much more information to come."

In the future, expect more holiday themed content, like we saw with Christmas and Valentine's Day, and even "some very exciting Story Mode DLC."

Rockstar also listed some specific adjustments that will be coming in future title updates:

* addition of a 'Non-Contact' option for Races allowing for standard Races with collisions disabled between player vehicles. Other players will appear as semi-transparent and you'll still be able to collide with non-player traffic, structures and other scenery, but this mode - for those who want to play it - will eliminate the "rubbing is racing" mentality that some wish to avoid.
* restoration of original in-air motorcycle/bike physics
* players will be able to call Lester and have him tell his cop buddies to turn a blind eye to any crime you may or may not be committing for a short period of time.
* bonus RP granted for players who like or dislike Jobs after playing them.
* GTA$ payouts increased when completing Parachute, Races, Deathmatches and LTS Jobs with less than 4 players.
* closure of RP exploits and adjustment of RP totals of players known to have gained illegitimate RP by cheating.
* fixing the issue where players who had upgraded personal vehicles prior to Title Update 1.10 were only able to sell them for $10,000.

We'll keep you posted as more details comes in.
