'Super Smash Bros 4' Confirmed Characters: This Week's Reveals Include 'Animal Crossing' Female Villager, Charizard Fire Blitz & More

Recap of Super Smash Bros. News and Updates from This Week

The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS details have been consistently coming from Nintendo ahead of the release of both versions. The game will be out this summer on 3DS and this winter on Wii U, but it seems we'll have to wait until E3 this June for a specific release date.

What we do get for now is Nintendo's daily updates on the game's official website, which mostly consists of daily pictures with captions. The last significant info drop came from a Nintendo Direct video a while back (you can watch it below), which revealed several new characters and details.

Nintendo does not update the site on the weekends, however, making it a good time to look back at what has been announced this week--especially if you missed it the first time around.

Series director Masahiro Sakurai started off the week with the first of several character-related reveals, showing the wire frame of Little Mac. It will presumably be an enemy in singleplayer, or in a mode specifically for those enemies like we've seen in the games before.

The next update was related to one of the new playable characters in the upcoming title, Charizard. Sakurai displayed his Fire Blitz attack, and told us that his down special would be Rock Smash.

We also saw another new trophy, which is a popular item type for these daily reveals (though not a usable assist trophy like many others). It was Brittany from Pikmin 3, which is apparently a favorite of Sakurai's! An assist trophy was in fact revealed next, with a very old throwback to the TV-Game 15. The Pong-like gameplay will appear over the screen to damage your enemy.

The final reveal was perhaps the most interesting, as it related to one of the new playable characters as well. Sakurai revealed that you will be able to play as a female version of the Animal Crossing Villager, even though we had only seen the male in everything so far.

That was all the Super Smash Bros. information we were given this week, but keeping checking back for more details and, hopefully, a surprise release date announcement.
