'The Elder Scrolls Online' Craglorn Update Releases This Week; New Content, Adventure Zone [VIDEO]

'The Elder Scrolls Online' Craglorn Update Releases This Week

The Elder Scrolls Online is releasing its first major patch and update, including a new zone called Craglorn, later this week, approximately six weeks after the game's initial, rocky launch. Zenimax says the update should be here Thursday or Friday, but that all testing had officially closed at this point.

The Elder Scrolls Online Update Details

Craglorn promises a host of new content for both four player groups and larger, 12 man expeditions including a new feature called Trials, which is a "large group, veteran PVE system", according to designer Paul Sage. Specifically designed for groups of 12, Trials are going to test you to the limit of your skills, throwing environmental hazards, wave after wave of enemies and challenging boss fights. Throwing salt on the wound, Trials also run on a timer, and you and your crew have only a limited number of resurrections. Along with the Trials comes a new leaderboard, so be fast, don't die and you will be rewarded as the great heroes you know yourselves to be.

The second update following Craglorn is already being prepped on the Test Servers. Sage teased that a big update of the veteran dungeon Crypt of Hearts is in the worksIs that as ominous sounding to everyone else as it is to me?

Game Of Thrones Opening With Skyrim

I admit I haven't had a chance to play The Elder Scrolls: Online, my MMORPG debt is fairly large after 10 years of Warcraft. Zenimax started out with the hope to update the game with new content or minor overhauls every four to six weeks and so far, they are making good on that promise. Games like this can quickly get out of hand if they aren't constantly monitored, and Zenimax seems to have a good head on its shoulder for what is and is not working.

Check out the video with Paul Sage for a more in-depth preview of Craglorn.
