The next Android KitKat update, 4.4.3, has been announced for a while, but no exact release date has been named. Some recent rumors said the update would hit today, which doesn't seem to be the case, but more concrete mentions from Samsung hint that it will be here soon.

Official news on the update has been very limited, but users of Google's Nexus phones have been anxiously awaiting its arrival. Though 4.4.3 mostly consists of fixes (listed below), many of them are essential as the last update has several bothersome bugs. Samsung referenced the 4.4.3 as the latest version on its site, in a set of troubleshooting instructions.

Though hardly official word of its release date, it does represent one of the first mentions of 4.4.3 by an original equipment manufacturer (OEM). This more than likely implies that it's at least close to release, or else Samsung would have little need to mention it. The post that references the update is directions for developers looking to troubleshoot an issue with ConsumerIrManager.

The update is expected to affect Google's Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10, as well as the Google Play Edition phones. It's also expected to arrive at a later time on devices such as the Moto X, HTC One M7 and HTC One M8. Here's the list of fixes 4.4.3 will bring:
