Kojima Unveils the Curtain on Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain's Gameplay With New Footage

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set to make a show at this year's E3, but MGS guru Hideo Kojima is giving fans a sneak peek before things kick off next week, and you can check it out right here.

At just over a minute and a half, the clip is brief, but there's enough there to get you excited. The clip begins with Big Boss, Snake, or whatever you wanna call him, peering out from a dumpster in some godforsaken desert, probably Afghanistan, before smoothly taking out a guard with a well placed shot.

In addition to the change of scenery, Snake's outfit has changed from Ground Zeroes' state of the art sneaking suit to some basic camo. We also get a nice peek at Snake's new prosthetic hand before Kojima hides him from view under, what else? A cardboard box. Check it out below.

Nine years have gone by between Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, so expect Snake to have learned plenty of new tricks (and maybe even some familiar faces) by the time the game hits PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One sometime in 2015.

And just so you console fan boys can keep the war going, the footage above came from the PS4 version of The Phantom Pain. Let the bickering continue...
