'Mortal Kombat X' Two New Characters Revealed As D'Vorah & Ferra/Torr, Ed Boon's 'Favorites' [VIDEO, IMAGES]

Mortal Kombat X's New Characters - D'Vorah, Ferra, and Torr: What We Know So Far

Mortal Kombat X had a phenomenal gameplay demo shown during Sony's E3 2014 presser last night, and, just as NeatherRealms boss Ed Boon promised, two brand spankin' new characters were unveiled. While they were unknown at the time, their identities have finally been revealed.

Mortal Kombat X's E3 2014 Gameplay Trailer is Difficult to Watch

The information came from Mortal Kombat developer NeatherRealm Studios' Community Specialist Tyler Lansdown via Twitter, who identified the winged lady as D'Vorah, and the tag-team "brute" as Torr, with "little lady" Ferra playing the role of pilot.

This hooded nightmare is D'Vorah, and she's quite the looker, huh? Like so many other MK fighters, D'Vorah definitely isn't human. In fact, she's probably closer to insect than anything else, as evidenced by the horns on her shoulders, and the set of wings on her back.

Below you'll see the insect entourage she travels with, and before you ask, yes, she does hold a certain amount of influence over them. They come in handy for some of D'Vorah's special moves, as well as her fatalities, but we'll get to that later.

This mountain with legs up there is Torr, and the mouthy pygmy on his back is Ferra. Torr is definitely the muscle of this team-up, but that doesn't mean Ferra is completely helpless. Hell, Torr even takes to chucking Ferra right at enemies so she can get in a few of her own hits. So even without Torr, Ferra can both take, and dish out a beatin'.

As far as what we actually know about these new characters besides their names...well...Ed Boon has referred to them as his "new favorites," so I suppose that's something. The developer hasn't released any other official information, so the best way to learn about them is to watch them in action.

D'vorah is clearly quicker on her feet than Torr and company, owed to a lighter frame, a nifty set of wings, additional legs, and not having to carry a Ferra on her back. Beyond helping her move quickly, D'Vorah's added limbs come in handy...heh, "handy"...with helping to deliver an added smackdown. No doubt the four armed Goro and Kintaro helped inspire that.

As for Torr, he's obviously more of a bruiser, so when he does connect, it hurts.

As far as their stories go, that's up in the air, but going from the opening taunts between D'vorah and Torr, it does seem like the two know each other.

Mortal Kombat X is due out later this year for both current and last generation platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, in addition to Windows PC. It'll be the first game in the series that'll allow players to "choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style," and possibly even the story, but more on that, and the game's fighters, as additional information comes to light.
