England vs Uruguay World Cup Prediction: 'FIFA 14' Simulation Predicts Result Of Today's Biggest Match

FIFA 14 World Cup Simulation Decides Result of Uruguay vs England

The first round of fixtures for World Cup 2014 are in the books, with plenty more excitement ahead. Using FIFA 14's new World Cup mode, I've been simulating each match to see how EA's engine fares in determining the results.

How Accurate Has FIFA 14 Been In Predicting Results So Far?

Between Brazil's controversial opener, the collapse of world champions Spain, Costa Rica's surprising victory, and German dominance, the competition has so far offered plenty of entertainment, along with plenty of goals.

I simulated the result for the ongoing Colombia-Ivory Coast match, and have moved on to the day's biggest match between England and Uruguay. FIFA 14 has predicted its second draw of the tournament, simulating a 1-1 draw between the two strong teams.

Uruguay was on the score sheet first in the 44th minute, Cavani feeding a pass to Stuani in the box that he tucked away at the near post. The South American side had more of the ball, but couldn't get on the board again, and were punished very late in the game for their profligacy. Substitute James Milner played a fantastic long ball for Danny Welbeck, which he collected and smashed in at the 86 minute mark.

Given the struggles both teams displayed in their first games, this is definitely a reasonable result. You can't predict how teams will mentally respond to losing their first games, however, and one or both sides could come out more determined and effective than they were the first time around. Either team could definitely win this match--tune in at 3 p.m. ET to see if FIFA 14 got it right.
