'Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare' PC Release Date Is Today, Get Exclusive New Content For Hilarious PopCap Games Shooter [TRAILER]
Popcap Games has released their critical darling, Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare for the PC today. Now everyone can vanquish the undead from the safety of their own back porch.
The game was originally released on the Xbox 360 earlier this year and was met with great enthusiasm. The PC version of the game will feature additional content not found on the 360, including the all new co-op multiplayer mode named Jewel Junction, which introduces an environmental factor that players must contend with: a train running right down the middle of the map.
"Fan reaction to Garden Warfare has been nothing short of amazing. We are humbled to see how our fans have embraced the game, and we're very excited that PC players can now join in on the fun," said Brian Lindley, Producer on Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare.
Since the game launch in February, several updates have come along, including the Zomboss Down wild west theme pack. PC players who purchase the game will receive all updates for the cost of the game, extending the game's lifespan by dozens of hours.
The game's developer strongly emphasizes that Garden Warfare for the PC is not a port of the 360 version and was built specifically for PC architecture.
"It's not a port," said Justin Wiebe, the game's creative director, in an interview with Polygon. "Everything from our UI to how the mouse-driven controls are going to work - everything has been looked at from PC gamers' POV."
Additionally, PC players who purchase the Deluxe Edition of the game on Origin will receive two booster packs, 150,000 in-game coins and a character customization pack.
Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare will also be available on PS3 and PS4 systems beginning August 19. The Deluxe Edition on Origin retails for $34.99 and the Standard will cost $29.99.
