'Saints Row 4' National Treasure Gets July Release Date, Includes All DLC Mission & Content Packs But No Nic Cage
Just in time for the 238th birthday celebration of America, Deep Silver has announced the upcoming release of Saints Row IV National Treasure Edition for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC.
The game will ship to retailers on July 8 and will be available via physical copy and digital download. The pack will retail for $29.99.
So what exactly is the National Treasure Edition? Sadly, it is not a Nicolas Cage movie tie-in (which the developers do point out). The game pack includes all 29 add on pieces of content, which is the sum of all the DLC Saints Row IV has released since its launch. The DLC on its own would cost about $60, so if you're thinking of picking up Saints Row IV, and you really, really should be, hold off for a few weeks and save yourself the cost of an entire other game.
Also included is the fabulous Grass Roots 'Merica! gun, which functions similarly to the completely insane and otherwise totally bad ass multi-use weapon previously only available in the Commander In Chief Edition. The gun is described as "a weapon with unmeasurable freedom containing: a light machine gun, a sub machine gun, an auto shotgun, heavy pistol, a minigun, a rocket launcher, a flamethrower and a huge combat knife all in one gun. MERICA!" I bet it smells like apple pie, too.
Mission packs Enter the Dominatrix and How The Saints Saved Christmas are also part of the game pack. You can find the full list of the items at the official Saints Row site.
Saints Row IV is perhaps the only game that has fully realized the potential of the open world environment. It's a ridiculous, over the top, mayhem inducing epic that knows the real draw of sandbox games: wanton destruction. The plot is thin and the fun is high. And there's an alien invasion, and you're elected president within about 10 minutes.
Why are you still reading this? Go and play Saints Row IV again if you have it, and wait for the National Treasure Edition if you do not.
What was that? Sorry? I can't hear you over the sound of my Dubstep Gun.
