'Pokemon' Symphony: Iconic Franchise Music Gets Full Blown Orchestra In 'Pokemon Symphonic Evolutions' Concert Series

Pokemon's Iconic Franchise Music Gets Full Blown Orchestra In 'Pokemon Symphonic Evolutions' Concert Series

The Pokemon company has recently announced that the music to their enduring game franchise will be getting the full orchestral makeover. The Pokemon: Symphonic Evolutions concert tour will reimagine the popular tunes from the Pokemon series into music worthy of a concert hall.

The concert is set to make its debut on August 15 at the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C. No set list at this time has been provided, but the producers say they will be playing pieces from Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow through X & Y. Accompanying the orchestral overtures will be drawings and videos from the games themselves.

One does hope that they will find some young prodigy to sing the main Pokemon theme song in fully operatic timbre.

The concert series is being produced by the same creative directors who gave us the massively successful The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses series which went on tour last year.

Currently, only the DC show (where the Pokemon World Championships is also being held that weekend) and one in Philadelphia, on September 19, have been announced. Other cities are on the docket, but their locations have yet to be revealed. Expect a heavy northeast presence as well as some of the major cities across the country. No details yet on whether the tour will be international as well.

Tickets have gone on sale for the announced venues, you can purcahse them here.

The music to Pokemon is some of the strongest in video games. What are some of the tunes you want to hear get the full piece orchestra treatment?
