Pokemon Omega Ruby And Alpha Sapphire’ Remakes Introduce New Secret Base Feature Using StreetPass and QR Codes [VIDEO]

Do Secret Stuff In Secret Bases With Secret Pals In Pokémon Alpha Secret And Omega Surrepetitious

The upcoming Nintendo 3DS remakes of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are adding an exciting new game feature to the world of pocket monsters.

Players will soon be able to deck out a whole customizable private space with the "Secret Base" feature, with such such cool Secret Base stuff as traps, mazes and other assorted vanity items rather handily called "Decorations". Traps and mazes? I thought this game was about making friends! What's next, acid pits?

Well, it is! You can invite other Pokemon trainers to your Secret Base by sharing it using the StreetPass functionality, or create a unique QR code for their Base, so friends who scan it can visit it directly. This way you can become Secret Pals and do battle and interact in other ways within your Secret Bases. These Pals can make you acquire different skills, such as hatching a Pokemon's egg faster, sharing Decorations amongst each other ("Have a spike trap, Secret Pal!") or even leveling a single Pokemon up by one.

The more Secret Pals you have in your base at any one time, the more these skills become available. Sounds like one of those Facebook games that give you more stuff the more people you invite, only not obnoxious, since the invites you send out all end up with people who actually willingly play the game you are inviting them to. Live and let live, Poke-friends!
