'No Man's Sky' Multiplayer Features Planned For Title's Future, Gameplay Elements Outlined In Hello Games Interview

No Man's Sky Multiplayer Mode Hinted At During Hello Games Interview, Gameplay Elements Outlined

An interview with Hello Games' Sean Murray has revealed more details about the exciting indie title No Man's Sky, including a hint at a more traditional multiplayer mode planned for the future.

Project Spark Release Date Announced, Will Be Free On Xbox One And Windows 8.1

Speaking to Gamespot (which you can watch in the video below), Murray explained that the he and the team are avoiding putting too many labels on the game, letting players decide what they want the experience to be. He also referenced a multiplayer aspect of No Man's Sky, but did not want to give away too many details yet--it's also not a feature that will not be ready come release.

"There is this thing, which I'm not going to talk about now, that is a plan for multiplayer, for people to have a more traditional multiplayer experience within the game," Murray stated. "And that's something we'll deal with further down the line that is exciting, but that's not something that's core to the game now."

The title offers multiple gameplay elements rolled into one game, which means you can pick and choose what to focus on, making your play-through different than someone else's.

"We don't want to prescribe what people do," Murray explained. "So we're not going to say this is a game about discovering creatures, or killing dinosaurs, or flying a ship, or becoming a fighter, or a pirate or a bounty hunter."

He also mentioned that the studio will be working on the game for some time after launch--the development process does not stop on release day, and the team will keep adding more to do.

"But loads of those things are possible, not everything is possible, and when we ship the game not everything will be possible, but this is a game I think we'll be making for a while."
