Nintendo Smashes Its Way Into San Diego With Tournaments, Prizes And Demos

Ain't no party like a Nintendo Comic Con party cuz a Nintendo Comic Con party lets you in even if you don't have a badge.

New One Piece DLC Packs Hit Europe

Nintendo will be in full force at next week's annual San Diego Comic Con. The company will be bringing playable versions of Super Smash Bros. for both the Wii U and the 3DS, and also several upcoming titles such as Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. The best part is that if you don't have tickets for the Con, Nintendo is set up at the Marriott Marquis & Marina hotel and will be open to everyone.

Additionally, tournaments and prizes and a whole area dedicated to Tomodachi Life will help make this Nintendo's largest presence at Comic Con ever. Who needs E3 when you have this?

Players will also be able to participate in a full Mario Kart 8 tournament, too. And even those of us who aren't in attendance can get in on the action. "The bracket-style competitions will pit 32 players against each other. The winner of each local competition will then be invited to take on racers around the world using the online tournament feature of Mario Kart 8. Players at home can join the online tournaments with a chance to face off against the local champions. The online tournament codes and schedule will be announced via Nintendo's social media channels in the future."

Con goers will also get a firsthand look at Nintendo's upcoming amiibo figures, the new minifigs that will interact with select Wii U and 3DS games.

But of course, no Nintendo event is complete without a heavy helping of Smash Bros. Fear not. As previously announced, they're giving Con goers an exclusive firsthand look at the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. Players can participate in Smash Bros tournament on a first come, first served. The whole thing will be streamed via twitch, so make sure you bring your A-game. If you don't make the tournament, there will be a whole booth dedicated to Smash Bros. at the convention center.

Bayonetta fans will want to make sure they mark their calendars for a screening of the new animated film Bayonetta: Bloody Fate from FUNimation Entertainment. The stylized animated movie follows the powerful witch Bayonetta as she battles the forces of heaven to regain her memory. The feature film will screen Friday, July 25, at 9:35 p.m. PT in Marriott Hall Room 4 at the Marriott Marquis & Marina hotel. You will, however, need a Comic Con badge to gain entry to the film.

It's Nintendo. It's Comic Con. It's a real no brainer. The Nintendo Gaming Lounge is located in the San Diego Ballroom on the first floor of the Marriott Marquis & Marina hotel at 333 W.
