‘Star Wars: Episode 7’ Cast Adds ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Halo: Nightfall’ Actress, ‘Harry Potter’ Villain in ‘Star Wars Rebels’

JJ Abrams Adds New Lady To Episode VII, Jason Isaacs Joins Rebels Voice Cast

Star Wars Episode VII is (as far as we know) still on for a Christmas 2015 release date. Pretty crazy considering that they are adding people to the cast to this very day! Christina Chong is the latest addition.

Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen Join JJ Abrams' Episode 7

Chong, veteran of 24 and Doctor Who, has been cast as (what else) a mystery character in JJ Abrams' instalment of the space opera, according to Latino Review. Meanwhile, TheForce.net is reporting that Jason Isaacs is to voice the Inquisitor, the new villain on cartoon show Star Wars: Rebels, premiering on Disney XD this fall.

Jason Isaacs was of course already Admiral Zhao in the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender, so we know he does a great evil cartoon voice (and live action performance - his colonel Tavington in The Patriot is a delight). Star Wars seems a natural fit! He joins David Oyelowo as Agent Kallus (yeah) on the villain front. Christina Chong you may remember from seminal series 6 mid-season Doctor Who finale "A Good Man Goes To War" in which she was Pvt. 1st Class Lorna Bucket, a small but memorable character which she portrayed admirably.

Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie Join Episode VII

Ever since the backlash JJ Abrams received when he announced his main cast for Episode VII in which men outnumbered women about 8 to 1, most of the additions have been women (and non-white ones to boot). I'm sure Chong, Crystal Clarke and Lupita Nyong'o's characters will join the pantheon of amazing fan-favorite non-white female Star Wars movie characters such as Depa Billaba, Adi Gallia, Luminara Unduli and Barriss Offee. Nobody stood in the background not saying anything like those ladies!
