Bungie's Destiny beta released on PlayStation 4 and PS3 yesterday, but it certainly wasn't the smoothest launch we've ever seen.

Sony's PSN was bogged down with traffic before the beta was even made live--the PlayStation Store was unavailable and some could not sign in to the network. When the download codes were finally sent out about two hours after the initially planned time, most users had trouble getting PSN to accept the key.
Users eventually started getting through, which led to a relatively large 13GB download. Speeds on the download were extremely slow at first, with the process projected to take several hours, but picked up as Sony and Bungie worked to clear the issues hampering the system. My download unfortunately took most of the day, the data transfer moving at a miserable speed, but judging by others that was down to an issue with my internet--I don't think most took so long.

The beta is up and running smoothly now, however, though I'm sure Bungie and Sony would rather have had the exclusive beta launch take off with less hitches. Matchmaking and the story are both operating perfectly in my experience, with no lag or dropped matches since I started playing yesterday.
There's plenty to do in the campaign alone or in a fireteam, and it has an overall more cinematic feel to what we saw in the alpha. The game seemingly looks better, too, providing us with an updated version of the alpha that may be closer to what we see in the final game.
