The Legend of Zelda Hyrule Warriors Adds Ocarina Of Time Characters Sheik, Ruto and Darunia To Roster Of Playable Characters; Expect More N64 Content Sooon

Hyrule Warriors Adds Ocarina Of Time Characters Sheik, Ruto and Darunia To Roster Of Playable Characters

This week's issue of Famitsu shows off images of several new Hyrule Warriors playable characters.

Link Gets The Old Ball & Chain

With thanks to everyone across the other pond. The new characters are all from The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina Of Time, the single greatest game in the history of the medium.

Princess Ruto of the Zora tribe and Darunia of the Goron, the brawny, burly and kind mountain people. They're certainly surprising, but considering the absolute need for Ocarina content, make sense. What is not surprising, however, is the inclusion of Sheik, Zelda's alter ego and bad ass warrior first seen in the N64 game.

The Wind Waker Makes Its First Appearance In Hyrule Warriors

Darunia eventually became Hyrule's Fire Sage, one of the few males ever to accomplish the feat. Makes perfect sense in context of Hyrule Warriors. Alongside Link, he is only the second playable male character announced. Throughout the game, Link and Darunia become close and in the seven year gap during which Link was not present, the Goron King named his son after the Hero of Time.

Ruto has the distinct honor of being the only woman to ever capture Link's heart. At least, the future Sage of Water thought she had bagged herself the Hero of Time with an engagement stone. Sorry, Princess, the man is above such things.

Sheik was Zelda's combative alter ego in Ocarina. The demure Princess dressed up as a member of the Sheikah people to Robin Hood her way across Hyrule. In the Super Smash Bros. series, the two are often the same character and can transform into the other as the need arises. Separating the two makes sense from a combat standpoint in Hyrule Warriors, but is very not-canon!

The three new characters brings the total count up to 10. Link, Zelda, Impa, Midna, Lana, Agitha, Fi, Darunia, Ruto and Sheik. Expect more Ocarina of Time content to come out later this week.

Hyrule Warriors hits American shores September 26 for the Wii U.
