Super Smash Bros Comic-Con: Watch The Live Stream For 'Nintendo Challenge' Tournament Event

Super Smash Bros Comic-Con Tournament Underway, Watch The Live Stream Here

Just as it was at E3, San Diego Comic-Con will play host to a Super Smash Bros live tournament, though this time for 3DS.

The competition will begin today at 11:30 a.m. PT, and continue through the day. It will then pick back up on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Nintendo Challenge Live event will be streamed through Twitch--the video is embedded below, and will start broadcasting when the event begins.

The competition will become more fierce on Saturday (presumably the better contestants will remain standing in the tournament), and the event description also promises "awesome game play challenges from some of the hottest upcoming Nintendo games", which is admittedly pretty vague.

Five Ways That You Can Be SUPERHOT, Too

Tuning into the live stream will answer any questions you have about what that means, though, and you can be entertained by the tournament if nothing else. The E3 Super Smash Bros for Wii U competition was a fun event, and it will be interesting to see how they broadcast the 3DS version.

Going forward, you also have to wonder if a competitive scene will emerge around the handheld edition of the game. The series has always been a console experience and a competitive gaming mainstay (particularly Super Smash Bros Melee), so I imagine the main game for tournaments will be the Wii U version. The 3DS title could take on a life of its own, though, and requires less staging and setup than the console version, though streaming gameplay could prove difficult.

We'll have to see how Nintendo handles the event today--tune in below to watch for yourself.
