Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Michael Bay Poster Featuring 9/11 Imagery Causes Controversy [PICTURE]

Australian Ninja Turtles Movie Poster Gets Pulled Due To Offensive 9/11 Imagery

The Australian marketing department for the upcoming Platinum Dunes production of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tweeted out a new poster for the film today that, due to its specific Australian release date, was perhaps a bit ill-advised.

TMNT/Ghostbusters Crossover Comic Coming

The poster shows Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo skydiving away from an explosion, as the top of a skyscraper behinds them blows up into smithereens. At the bottom center of the poster, the release date is awkwardly placed, saying "SEPTEMBER 11" in golden letters.

The poster has since been deleted, but not before making the rounds on Twitter, Facebook and various other social media. What do you think of it? Insensitive, offensive or harmless?

TMNT Xbox Movie Game Achievements List Leaked

I live in Belgium, and last year saw the release of Roland Emmerich film White House Down starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx. As sometimes happens, non-US countries get movies a bit later, and WHD came out... September 11. So last year, we had big movie posters in theaters saying WHITE HOUSE DOWN - SEPTEMBER 11. No controversy though!
