Shadowrun Returns Owners Get Free Update For ‘Dragonfall: Director’s Cut’

One year having passed since Shadowrun Returns hit the market, Harebrained Schemes co-founders Jordan Weisman and Mitch Gitelman address the fans about an upcoming Director's Cut.

Shadowrun Online Hits Steam Early Access

Weisman and Gitelman talk about the second Shadowrun Returns campaign Dragonfall having surpassed all of their critical and financial expectations, and how they'd like to do something in return for the fans now.

In the video address embedded below, the two indie dev bosses talk about player wishes being addressed in this new update such as the abolition of set save points (save anywhere!), less linear gameplay, and a team of runners with well-developed personalities that you really get to care about.

Dragonfall game director Mike McCain also makes a special guest appearance to reveal that the Director's Cut should be coming this October, with a big news update on what exactly will be different sometime next month.

Most amazingly, this small studio pulled a CDProjekt RED move and announced that everyone who already owns Shadowrun Returns will not have to pay for this director's cut and just download end enjoy the extra content when it hits.

We certainly hope this model will be adopted by many other game developers! I haven't had the pleasure of playing Shadowrun Returns myself yet, but I have heard good things, and it's moves like these that certainly entice me to give games a shot.

Shadowrun Returns is available on Steam for Windows, iOS and Linux systems.
