EA Announces Subscription Service For Access To Its Vault Of Games And Early Releases, Costs $5 Per Month

Electronic Arts has announced a subscription program exclusively for Xbox One called EA Access, which (appropriately) grants you access to EA's library of games.

It's an unprecedented endeavor for EA, and will cost you $5 per month or $30 a year to join. A subscription will allow you to play any games from "The Vault", and the beta is rolling out to a limited number of players today. It will also give you access to some games before their release dates.

The beta will allow you to play FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Peggle 2 and Battlefield 4, and more titles will be added to EA's vault later. Those are older titles for now, which many players who didn't get around to their back catalogue will appreciate, but hopefully EA is willing to add newer games to the service.

The Destiny Beta Is Now Over, Wait For September Release Date Begins

To that point, EA Access will let you play Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, NBA LIVE 15, and Dragon Age: Inquisition up to five days before their release dates, with more games being added to that offer in the future.

Being a member will also give you a 10 percent discount on digital content in the Xbox Games Store. That discount applies to both things like add-ons or in-game points and full digital versions of games.

You can buy a subscription soon on Xbox Live or Amazon, as well as Gamestop retail locations. Gamestop and Amazon will offer memberships in Europe, and EB Games will sell the subscription in Canada.
