New Middle-Earth Shadow Of Mordor Concept Art Showcases Celebrimbor, The Forger Of The Rings Of Power

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated games of the year. Last week, Warner Bros dropped a new trailer called 'The Bright Lord Story' and the internet, us included, lost its collective mind. In it, we were introduced to the wraith that resurrects Talion and the Lord of the Rings fans in all of us got giddy.

It turns out, the wraith was no mere spirit, but rather Celebrimbor, the forger of the rings of power. Today, Warner Bros dropped some concept art fleshing out, or rather, de-fleshing out the once noble Elf turned spirit of vengeance.

In life, Celebrimbor looks like any other devilishly handsome elf. In death, though, his face is mauled and twisted and he has the look of a man who is tired of all this crap. In Tolkien's lore, Celebrimbor has a very good reason to be angry with Sauron. The dark lord approached him and other elves and taught them the art of ringmaking and then, when the elves discovered the creature's true identity, sacked the town, imprisoned Celebrimbor and attempted to torture the information of the whereabouts of the lesser rings of power (the Elven rings, which Celebrimbor himself forged). When Celebrimbor refused, Sauron killed him.

That was many thousands of years ago and his spirit still wanders Middle-Earth. You're damn right he's upset.

Another fun fact: he created the Doors of Durin which were featured in the Moria sequence of The Fellowship of the Ring.

Watch the Bright Lord trailer below and get ready for Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, now with a new release date on September 30.
