Wireless Charging Stations For Xbox One And PS4 Arriving This Fall

Nyko, a leading gaming accessories manufacturer, has today announced that we are indeed in the future. No longer must we be held captive by wires. This fall, the company will be releasing a completely wireless charging dock for both Xbox One and PS4. The future is now, folks.

"The newest addition to Nyko's Modular line of products announced at E3 2014, the Modular Charge Station, with a separate version each for both Xbox One and PS4, mounts atop the console for a drop-and-go controller charging dock." It achieves its weird blend of voodoo and science by being wirelessly powered via the system's USB port.

"The spirit of the Modular line is to customize the consoles for optimal performance in the most cost and space-efficient way possible," said Chris Arbogast, director of marketing at Nyko Technologies. "The Modular Charge Station accomplishes that by letting players charge controllers directly atop their consoles - no wires or extra storage space is needed."

It's a similar idea to those phone charge pads that let you just drop your phone onto it and voila, instant charge.

The charging station will work with the Xbox wireless controller and the PS4 Dual Shock. No need to buy Nyko brand or other proprietary accessories to get the benefit, it will charge the controllers straight outta the box.

The two versions are different. The Xbox One edition includes two custom NiMH rechargeable batteries for easy drop-and-charge functionality, providing up to 25 hours of playtime. As such, the Modular Charge Station for PS4 will retail for $19.99, and the Modular Charge Station for Xbox One will retail for $29.99 starting Fall 2014. Both are patent pending.
