Super Smash Bros Pic Of The Day Displays Meta Knight And Samus Mii Fighter Costumes

The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS details will keep coming from Nintendo ahead of the staggered release of both versions, even after all the excitement from E3.

Super Smash Bros 3DS Trophy Gallery And Shop Revealed

The title will be out for 3DS on October 3, as Nintendo announced at the gaming conference, and this holiday season on Wii U. A specific release date for the console version will likely be forthcoming as winter approaches, but Nintendo has plenty of time to make that announcement.

Several new characters and other details were revealed at E3 as expected, including the unveiling of Lady Palutena, Pac-man, the Mii Fighters and an appearance by Mr. Game & Watch, though he has not yet been confirmed as playable. Even after these major announcements, though, series director Masahiro Sakurai will continue to give us comparatively smaller details through the official site in the form of a daily picture update.

Today's post contained the image above, which displays two Mii Fighters wearing character helmets. The Mii Fighters are customizable both in play style and appearance, and Sakurai had some fun with the post:

"Pic of the day. "Hello! I'm Samus, the intergalactic bounty hunter!" "And I am Meta Knight, joining the battle!!""

The Meta Knight reference of course has fans wondering if this means the character himself is in the game, or if an announcement is coming, but so far this is all we have to go on and it's far from conclusive. Keep checking back for more Super Smash Bros. news each day, where we'll hopefully see new character reveals or a Wii U release date.
