Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual Destinies Is Coming To iOS

iPhone and iPad users, get ready to go to court! The Nintendo 3DS hit Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual Destinies is coming soon.

Such was revealed on the Capcom Unity Blog. The game was originally released as a digital download in North America for the Nintendo 3DS eShop last Fall, but Wright is making his way to iOS devices as well. Obviously, the features that make the 3DS one of the best handheld consoles have been eliminated, like the stereoscopic 3D or the bottom screen, but otherwise everything looks like it's here, in glorious HD with 3D characters for the first time in the series.

The app will be relased in North America and Europe and there's no official release date just yet but they're promising it "very soon". It will feature all of the same cases from the original, including the hysterical DLC which sees your lawyers defending a killer whale. That's "killer" as an adjective- the whale is being charged with murder and it's up to you to get him off.

No word on pricing just yet- it's entirely possible each case will be a seperate in-app purchase.

The very first Phoenix Wright came to iOS in May of 2010 but it was a straight port of the Nintendo DS title with no new features. The later Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright Trilogy HD was quite different, offering the first three games in the series, completely revamped with beautiful, Retina-quality HD graphics that took advantage of the much-improved screen. The first two episodes of the first game are free to try and then you can buy each case individually or as part of a bundle to continue playing.

It's likely that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual Destinies will implement something similar here, which is nice, because you can choose to take it at your own pace or just grab the whole thing. More as we hear it. Don't forget Nintendo 3DS owners are almost getting a trade for this port, as Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright Trilogy HD is coming to the 3DS soon as well, so fans can finally get their hands on the original remastered trilogy.
