World Premiere Quantum Break Xbox One Footage At Gamescom Shows Off New Time Manipulation Action Title From The Makers Of Max Payne [VIDEO]

Quantum Break Gamescom Footage Lets Waste Time In The Best Possible Way For The Xbox One

Developer Remedy Entertainment, the makers of Alan Wake and Max Payne, gave the world a first look at the time-bending gameplay of their upcoming 3rd person title Quantum Break today during the shockingly robust Xbox conference from this year's Gamescom.

Evolve Beta Coming To Xbox One This January

The 8 minute trailer follows one of three main characters, Jack Joyce, as he navigates his way through a seaport town currently in the throes of some sort of undisclosed martial law. He has to wend his way across the port and past a bridge, and there are a whole lot of enemy soldiers in his way. It'd be a tough mission for any hardened soldier, but Jack has a unique gift: after a time travel experiment went awry, he now possesses the power to essentially freeze time.

Which is just below 'Bruce Wayne levels of wealth' in terms of superpowers. Not only can Jack freeze time around him, effectively stopping everyone while he goes about his business like Quicksilver in Days of Future Past, but he can also lob what can only be describe as 'temporal grenades' which create little pockets of non-space time which lock his enemies in a fixed point in time.

If none of that makes any sense, rest assured that the good folks at Remedy hired on a CERN scientist to make sure all the wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff makes sense along currently accepted theoretical quantum mechanics.

What's really great is when two bosses show up at the end and can walk through your temporal manipulation. What must that look like to us on the outside? We look, and then blink and suddenly, everything is on fire!

Quantum Break will be coming exclusively to Xbox One some time in 2015. A television series is planned for next year as well.
