Destiny Multiplayer Game Modes And Footage Revealed At Gamescom, PS4 Timed Exclusive Content Outlined

Sony gave stage time to Bungie and Destiny during its Gamescom press conference today, showing off new multiplayer footage and announcing details regarding additional content and sales.

Another announcement demonstrated to the popularity of and excitement for Bungie's title: Destiny has become the most pre-ordered new property of all time, Gamestop informed Sony. The beta was played by more than 4.6 million users by its end last month, displaying plenty of interest that has been reflected in stores.

"With the launch of Activision's Destiny just around the corner, our GameStop associates are working diligently to prepare for what is currently our highest pre-ordered new IP in history," said GameStop Senior Vice President of Merchandising, Bob Puzon. "Based on the consumer excitement we are encountering in our stores every day, Destiny is on track to deliver a tremendous gaming experience."

The new multiplayer footage can be seen in the video below, and shows us more action in addition to revealing the other game modes that were locked away in the beta. In addition to Control and Iron Banner, the Crucible will offer Skirmish (a smaller-scale mode), Rumble, Clash, Salvage, and Combined Arms.

You can find out more about each mode (though a limited amount--it briefly outlines each with a clip) in the trailer below. PlayStation players will get exclusive content before Xbox owners, including the cooperative Dust Palace Strike and the competitive map Exodus Blue. The first Destiny expansion The Dark Below will hit all systems in December.
