Super Smash Bros 4 Release Date And News: Assist Trophy Nightmare Wizard From Kirby Series Revealed [SCREEN]

Super Smash Bros Pic of the Day Reveals Assist Trophy Nightmare Wizard From Kirby Series

The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS details will keep coming from Nintendo ahead of the staggered release of both versions, even after all the excitement from E3.

Meta Knight Unveiled As Playable Character In Upcoming Super Smash Bros

The title will be out for 3DS on October 3, as Nintendo announced at the gaming conference, and this holiday season on Wii U. A specific release date for the console version will likely be forthcoming as winter approaches, but Nintendo has plenty of time to make that announcement.

Several new characters and other details were revealed at E3 as expected, including the unveiling of Lady Palutena, Pac-man, the Mii Fighters and an appearance by Mr. Game & Watch, though he has not yet been confirmed as playable. Even after these major announcements, though, series director Masahiro Sakurai will continue to give us comparatively smaller details through the official site in the form of a daily picture update.

Latest Super Smash Bros News Recap Here

Today's update shows off a new Assist Trophy: the (quite imposing) Nightmare Wizard from the Kirby series, seen in the image above. Here's Sakurai's description:

"Nightmare Wizard appears as an Assist Trophy! He will engulf the stage in darkness, and fighters will need to brawl blindly for a while. Look out for the effect before it goes dark, and play it to your advantage. Blinding and reversal effects even make the computer players mess up."

Keep checking back for more Super Smash Bros. news each day, where we'll hopefully see new character reveals or a Wii U release date.
