The expansion will launch on September 18, and bring with it a new campaign, game mechanics, and a focus on the Halfling race. Developers Triumph Studios posted a trailer showing off the new content in Golden Realms, and have gone above and beyond with a nearly 18 minute-long preview of the expansion.

"Golden Realms expands Age of Wonders III's empire building mechanics and introduces bucket loads of new content," a press release stated. "These new features are used in random maps, new scenarios and a new story campaign, where Halfling survivors settle in a distant land filled with danger and treasures never seen before."

"Age of Wonders III: Golden Realms incorporates feedback from the community and coincides with a free update adding updated AI, balance, a new Spell Disjunction System, Steam Workshop and Cloud Saves for Steam Users."

The new campaign consists of three scenarios centered around the surviving Halfling race. In addition, the expansion also adds 20 new units and roughly 50 new hero items to equip your customizable characters with. There are also Empire Building Goals--objectives you can try to complete before your competition to gain bonuses--and Seals of Power, a king of the hill-style victory condition.
