Titanfall was free a few weeks ago for a brief period, and can now be played at no cost for 48 hours with an Origin feature called Game Time. The timer will begin from the moment you first launch the game, and allows you two days' worth of play time for free.

Should you decide to purchase the game, your stats and progress should be transferred into the full game. Other titles are available on the service with Game Time right now as well--Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning can be played for 48 hours too, and Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is available for 72 hours at no cost.

It's a similar strategy employed by Valve's Steam service, which often unlocks games for free weekends. The titles are usually discounted during that time as well, making it more appealing to buy for players enjoying the free window.

Arkane Studios' Dishonored is being offered on one such promotion right now, available for free on Steam until Sunday at 4 p.m. Eastern. The regular game is currently 75 percent off at $4.99, and the Game of the Year edition can be purchased for $10.19.
