iPad 2015 Rumor: Apple Readying 12.9-Inch Model For Next Year According To Report

Apple Working on 12.9-inch iPad For 2015, Rumor Claims

Apple will release a larger 12.9-inch iPad early next year, according to sources speaking to Bloomberg. The iPad will be much bigger than any offering out there right now--Apple currently sells iPads with 9.7-inch and 7.9-inch displays (screens are measured diagonally).

Apple will begin producing the new device by the end of the first quarter of 2015, said the sources, who didn't reveal their identities because of the information's secrecy.

It appears that CEO Tim Cook is attempting to build a much more customizable product line, with a screen for any diet. Analysts have expected this move, with a future Apple providing smart devices that range from a screen that fits on a wristwatch to a touchscreen television set.

A jumbo screen iPad could be the first move to bridge these gaps. It will at least dabble in the tablet-laptop gap that tech manufacturers are still figuring out the best way to close.

This year has not been kind to the tablet market, which has seen explosive growth since the first iPad was released in 2010. Making the iPad more notebook-like could just be the necessity in the current marketplace.

Apple refused to comment on the rumors, unsurprisingly. The company is set to announce its new iPhone 6 early next month.
