Apple Building Large Mystery Structure For iPhone 6 Press Event

Apple appears to be building a large structure for its September 9 media event, where the iPhone 6 models and perhaps the iWatch are expected to be unveiled.

MacRumors posted a picture provided by one of its readers which shows what seems to be a very large stage or convention area under construction where the event is being held. The site displayed is the De Anza College's Flint Center for the Performing Arts.

It looks to be roughly three stories, and is reportedly protected by groups of security personnel. Those on-site were not at liberty to discuss what the structure would be at the request of the client, according to the source.

LG Announces Its Own Round Smartwatch, Which Looks Sharp

As MacRumors points out, the location is the same as the one Steve Jobs used 30 years ago to unveil the original Mac, and this could mean big things are in store. With the large seating capacity and comments from executives mentioning very exciting products in the works (according to Apple's Eddy Cue it's the "best product pipeline that I've seen in my 25 years at Apple") the reveal could be a major one, even by Apple's standards.

The presence of the iPhone 6 is nearly a sure bet at this point, and the other expected reveal is the iWatch. I'm not sure a smartwatch--even from Apple--would be worth such lofty claims as those stated by Cue, unless it's somehow truly revolutionary. The wearable devices have yet to really take off, but that hasn't stopped continuous releases from major companies. If anyone can popularize it or surprise us, though, I suppose it would be Apple.
