Saints Row 4 Gets Standalone Johnny Gat Expansion, Entire Game Gets Next-Gen PS4, Xbox One Versions [VIDEO]

The New Saints Row IV Standalone Expansion Is The Only Proper Response To Someone Telling You To Go To Hell

Developer Volition started off this PAX Prime weekend with some big news about Saints Row IV. Not only is the game hitting new-gen consoles early next year, but all players will get a chance to pick up the Gat out of Hell standalone expansion at the same time.

At their PAX panel this afternoon, Volition announced that Saints Row IV will be getting ported to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Now new-gen users can defend the country from alien invasions and fight off supernatural mind controllers with the best of them. The new version, Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, contains all of the ridiculous, over-the-top weapons and action of the original and is set to hit the market on January 27.

Making sure last-gen players aren't left out on the fun, Volition is also developing a new standalone expansion for the game starring series standby Johnny Gat. In Gat out of Hell, playable throughout the weekend at PAX, Johnny and Kinzie Kensington head to Hell to rescue the president after he is kidnapped by Satan. If that isn't a formula for an A-plus storyline, I don't know what is. Players can play as either Johnny or Kinzie as they tear through the underworld's fiercest demons on their path toward killing The Devil himself.

The developers promise a story packed with various historical figures, characters from the rest of the Saints Row franchise and a full musical number. The standalone expansion is set to hit all platforms, new and old, on January 27, alongside Saints Row IV: Re-Elected.
