Evolve Is Entering A "Big" Closed Alpha, And They're Offering Chances To Register At PAX And Over Social Media

Stuck Outside Seattle? Here's A Handy Streaming Schedule For PAX Prime 2014 So You Can Keep Up With The News And Events

Invitations to register for the new alpha, called "Big Alpha" by publisher 2K and developer Turtle Rock, will be handed out to PAX goers who try out a round of the game at the 2K booths. Fortunately for the rest of us who couldn't make it to Seattle this weekend, additional chances to register will be available over social media.

The announcement, posted yesterday, notes that the game's Twitter, Facebook and the developer's forums will all be kept in the loop regarding the Big Alpha. Hopefully, we'll get an explanation for why it's called Big Alpha as well.

Evolve Gameplay Video Highlights A Round As The Assault Class

For the uninitiated, players in Evolve have the choice to join one of two teams: a team of four monster hunters working together or a solo team consisting of a monster that gradually gets stronger throughout the match. The monster hunter team is always made up of four classes, though each class will have more than one character to choose from. The Trapper keeps the monster in one place while the Assault player deals heavy damage. The Medic keeps all of them alive, and the Support class fills in the gaps. Players who try their hand as the monster will have a couple of monsters to choose from, each of which has several strengthened evolved forms that the player can access if he lasts long enough in the match. A round ends when one team is lying dead or when the monster completes a secondary objective.

Evolve is set to hit the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on February 10.
