Dragon Quest Heroes In Development For PS4 And PS3: Next Entry In JRPG Series Will Be A Dynasty Warriors-Inspired Action Title [TRAILER]

Dynasty Quest? Dragon Warriors? New Dragon Quest Heroes Takes A Page From Dynasty Warriors

Dragon Quest, the long running and ever popular JRPG is getting a major facelift. Omega Force, the company responsible for the Dynasty Warriors franchise, will be handling the development of the brand new title Dragon Quest Heroes.

Super Smash Bros Pic Of The Day Reveals All Star Mode

The game is due out on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 sometime in 2015 in Japan. No word on a western release.

No word has been given as to the plot details but from the recently released trailer, it is clear that the new title will be abandoning Dragon Quest's classic, turn-based role playing mechanics for a more action oriented adventure. Which is keeping in line with Omega Force's style.

Persona 5 Is Coming Soon For The PS4

The company recently released Hyrule Warriors, which takes the classic Zelda world and transports it into a Dynasty Warriors hack 'n' slash adventure.

Dragon Quest, originally called Dragon Warrior here in the US, was the first big Japanese role playing game to make it overseas back in 1986. Yes, it pre-dated even Final Fantasy by a year. One can make the claim that the series has influenced every subsequent JRPG since its release. Any fan of the genre can pick up Dragon Quest and be instantly familiar with nearly facet of its gameplay, even to this day.

The series features 10 main entries, with the latest being Dragon Quest X, a Japanese only MMO released in 2012 and ported to the Wii U last year. Dragon Quest XI is currently in development and is scheduled for a 2016 release in time for the series 30th anniversary. Developer Yuji Horii, who created the original, is still on board.

Dragon Quest Heroes should serve as a shot in the arm for today's audience, many of which have grown tired of the JRPG style. Perhaps it will help drum up a renewed interest in one of the titans of the genre and get people talking about the new game.
