New Styx Master Of Shadows Gameplay Trailer Playfully Mocks Assassin's Creed Franchise [VIDEO]

There's A New Assassin In Town: Styx, Master Of Shadows And He's Coming For You White-Wearing Historical Figures

It is perhaps fitting that Cyanide Studio's upcoming title is about a tiny green goblin that slips silently through the world of larger people. Styx: Master Of Shadows is a mostly unheralded game that is content to scurry around the feet of its bigger, flashier, sequelier AAA brethren.

Sniper Elite 3 Fourth DLC Pack Out Now For Steam, Consoles Later This Month

After all, it's so much more satisfying when you cut their heels and watch them tumble over.

The game puts you in the role of Styx, yes, like both the band and the river, a goblin who on a mission. He is infiltrating the Tower Of Akenash to make a tidy profit and discover the answers to both himself and his existence, and the mysterious, all powerful World Tree that lies in the heart of the human controlled tower. To accomplish this, Styx employs a familiar yet refined set of skills.

Assassin's Creed Pirates Now Free On Mobile Devices

The first of a series of gameplay trailers showcases Styx's deftness, dexterity and quiet brutality. The game rewards stealth and skill above all else. Unlike other assassin based games, if you find yourself in a fair fight, you probably aren't walking out of there alive. Heck, the trailer is even titled Assassin's Green. Per the release, "Armed only with his trusted dagger and very few throwing knives for dealing with "long-range" encounters, Styx relies more on his small scale and nimble athleticism to subvert those who seek to kill him. Remain aware, and use the environment to your advantage, and you'll soon be able to dispatch the humans and elves, whilst remaining unseen."

The ways to dispatch those who stand in your way are varied. Stab, slit their throats, push them off ledges, drop a crate on them. There are about as many ways to cook chicken as there to kill humans and elves. Use the shadows and Styx's speed and height to your advantage and the wonders may never cease.

Watch the gameplay trailer below. Styx: Master Of Shadows is due out next month for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
