Rambo 5 News: Sylvester Stallone Will Fight Mexican Drug Cartels In No Country For Old Men-Style Sequel?

Will Rambo Get To Win The War On Drugs This Time?

Action king Stallone will be returning to one of his signature characters after all, as shooting is set to begin on the fifth installment of the Rambo series in Louisiana later this month.

Now, the Times-Picayune reports that Stallone is in town to begin filming on the no-doubt massively violent fourth part of the series that started in 1981 with First Blood.

"I'm getting ready for [Rambo V]," he told Vulture at an Expendables 3 event. "I'm starting to work out. I'm going to be appropriately vicious and all that stuff, but intellectual. A killer with a heart." The auteur/action star elaborated on Rambo's character: "Smart, yet stupid. Tall, yet short. Broad, but thin. You know what I mean. We're going to try to cover all the boundaries."

Apparently, Sly also said the new movie would take on the mournful tone of No Country For Old Men, which seems like a bit of a break with the atmosphere of the last couple of movies. True, Rambo had a depressed main character musing about the need for violence when diplomacy and charity failed, but it also had Rambo ripping out throats and turning faceless goons into jelly with a super machine gun.

The news of the Mexican cartel-based plot comes from a German distributor picking up a bunch of rights, including Rambo V.

What do you think of this news? After the amazing Rambo it would seem Sly should best leave well enough alone, but he has been known to pull major upsets.
