Avengers: Age Of Ultron Storyline Details Confirmed, Possible Ant-Man Involvement, New Daredevil Casting
That the murderous robot Ultron was coming to theaters next May, we all already knew - can't miss with a title like that. Now Marvel has released the official plot synopsis for the long-awaited sequel to the biggest superhero team movie of all time. Plus, we bring you some bonus Marvel Netflix goodness - Daredevil's mentor Stick has been cast.
The official Avengers: Age Of Ultron synopsis goes as follows:
"Marvel Studios presents Avengers: Age Of Ultron, the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.
Marvel's Avengers: Age Of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision".
Old friend in a new form pretty much 100% confirms that this Vision is the incarnated form of JARVIS, Tony Stark's OS since the first Iron Man movie. The more interesting part of this here blurb is Tony Stark "trying to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program". It's not a new idea by Tony, in other words. Could this mean that Ultron could be an idea of Hank Pym's from the 60s/70s, as Michael Douglas' Hank Pym in Ant-Man is said to be the first commie-fightin' incarnation of the diminutive hero? Remember, the Super Soldier Formula was used in The Incredible Hulk three years before Captain America ever hit screens!
In other Marvel news, Scott Glenn (The Silence Of The Lambs, The Right Stuff) has been cast as Stick, Daredevil's sensei in the ninjitsu arts for Marvel's upcoming Netflix mini Daredevil. If you don't believe his sword-fighting skills are up to par, please check out this amazing fight scene from The Challenge. Sword vs. stapler!
Avengers: Age Of Ultron is coming May 1, 2015, whereas Daredevil is hitting Netflix that same month on an as-yet unspecified day.
